Charlie Breakiron took a job with Softimage®, a subsidiary of Microsoft in the 1990s, as a trainer and demonstration representative throughout Europe. In 1998,Softimage® relocated Charlie to Los Angeles, California where he would work with studios like Disney, Sony Image Works, DreamWorks Animation SKG®, and Fox Animation Studios® in Phoenix, Arizona. Charlie left Softimage® to become a lead 3D animator and special effects coordinator on the feature animated film Titan A.E. for Fox Animation Studios®. Fox Animation Studios® was shut down in June 2000 and Charlie established BREAKIRON Animation&Design a year later in Phoenix, Arizona. He moved the company to its current location in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 2003. Charlie operated individually for a number of years under BREAKIRON, but he began assembling a team after moving to Raleigh.
Charlie’s experience as an instructor that he gained from his years at Softimage® allowed him to build a group of top-shelf talent for complex projects. This talent is able to benefit their clients with versatility, speed, and efficiency. Today, the BREAKIRON® team’s flexibility and agility enable it to quickly adapt to the needs of the changing market. “It was a very complicated project with a lot of moving pieces. BREAKIRON® was phenomenal in listening to us and reacting to our needs,” says IAB Marketing Director Chris Glushko.
Charlie uses BREAKIRON® to serve production houses, filmmakers, directors and other clients with 2D/3D animation, visual effects, and 2D/3D graphics.
